Meet Your Host

Noriko was born in Tokyo. She went to a private all girls school. Like most girls at the time, she was trained from a very young age in the traditional Japanese arts, such as: Tea Ceremony, Japanese Ikebana, and Calligraphy.

When she turned 12, she was sent off to the French side of Switserland to boarding school. Her friends were from all over the world, leading her to develop a global palate, and a taste for the finest wines from across Europe. Being groomed to be a fine young lady, she learnt the etiquette of the European elite and naturally developed her passion for hosting.

After continuing her tertiary studies in the United States, she returned to Japan to work.

Over the years, Noriko has taught international digniteries the art of hosting and etiquette. Her passion for fine dining and hosting dinner parties has now taken form at Wine Bar ViVi.

A Hidden Gem

I’ve been now three times. It’s a hidden gem located on the second floor of a building in Kanayama-cho. The sommelier is attentive and provides excellent service. There is a variety of wines available, and even if you’re not knowledgeable about wine, they explain it well, making it enjoyable to try different types. The dishes also use ingredients with a focus on local produce and were delicious. In particular, the dish with peaches, prosciutto, and cheese was outstanding! I heard it recently opened, and it’s a place I would like to continue visiting in the future.
